I have to say that I have enjoyed watching the women's world cup in Canada. It is good to see such good football with not as much diving and cheating like in the men's game. I don't think the standard is quite up there with the men's game either, but it is certainly coming on more and more, which is great news.
Being a big Japanese and Canadian fan, it was good to watch England against them both. Firstly against Canada, they deserved the win and then the game against Japan, well what can I say, the girls really deserved the win and were the better team on the day. Typically though in England style, losing it at the end after not making their chances pay. I actually wanted a Germany v England final with England to win on penalties (that would be ironic), but instead they are in the third place match. Come on England, you deserve at least third.
The final against USA and Japan is perfect for the game as well seeing a grudge match of the last final when Japan won it. Japan will have to step up their game to win this one, but could go either way. Come on Japan!!!!!
The real winner, after the England coach and players is.....women's football. Hopefully this will be the boost and media coverage they need to take it all to the next level. It would be great to see a women's match of the day.
